Abstract
The article discusses the motive and purpose of etiquette speech in Kyrgyz and English. Expressing gratitude in Kyrgyz and English until recently was typical of the speech of elders. Nowadays, the situation is changing; wishes, expressions of gratitude, and statements in the form of an appeal to the power of God are gaining strength. In the Kyrgyz and English languages, congratulations and wishes are expressed by the following formula: "I" – "to whom" – "what" – "I want". After analyzing various thoughts on our topic, we had to come to the following conclusion: Thus, congratulations, wishes, blessings, messages are a type of etiquette formulas in both languages.
