Abstract
From modern workers is required not only reproduction of acquired knowledge, but an independent creative approach to solving professional problems, the ability for constant self-education, personal and professional growth. Based on this, the purpose of this article is to reveal the significance of the contextual approach as a methodological guideline in teaching students to become independent in the process of mastering basic pedagogical skills. As a methodological basis for teaching students of pedagogical fields to work independently, the didactic possibilities of the contextual approach are revealed
