The increasing demand in English fluency around the world has meant that educators should look for more effective ways to teach English, along with listening, reading, speaking and writing. In this article, we will analyze the trend of using listening in teaching English at the university for senior students of the Faculty of International Relations and Oriental Studies, and consider a system of exercises for teaching listening. Possessing this type of communicative activity, a person understands everything that is said to him, and adequately reacts to what was said, converting his thoughts in response. International exams such as TOEFL, IELTS, foreign university entrance exams, and graduations now often include this listening component, recognizing that listening skills are a major component of language proficiency
