The article is devoted to the analysis of the features of higher education in Kyrgyzstan and Japan, as well as the current state of higher education in these countries, a comparison is made according to the main criteria. Comparative research in education is a comparison of the education systems of different countries (or components of these systems) using special methods in order to identify identities and differences, their causes, state and development trends, an objective assessment of the possibility of using the existing positive experience in solving the problems of education in one's own country
