ChatGPT is a large language model trained by OpenAI, which uses deep learning to generate text and answers to questions, including for generating program code. ChatGPT is a chatbot with artificial intelligence, capable of working in an interactive mode, supporting queries in natural languages. Then just chat. The author has been using the chat since the end of 2022 to the present time to prepare methodological materials on programming for first and second year students of the Institute of Computer Technology and Artificial Intelligence. In addition, students actively use the service when performing their laboratory work and practical tasks. Some experience of using the service has been accumulated and the article presents the results of the analysis of this experience. Based on the above analysis, some recommendations for the use of chat are given
